About Us

History

Sefton Pensioner’s Advocacy Centre (SPAC) was set up in 1995 by a group of local people who felt that older people needed help in getting their views heard.

Originally staffed entirely by volunteers, we registered as a Charity in 1996 (Registered Charity No 1055951)

Following advice from Sefton Council for Voluntary Sector and other advocacy groups, funding was obtained from Sefton Council and the Health Authority and this enabled us to recruit paid staff in 1997. The Charity has grown over the years and we now have 10 salaried staff who are a mixture of full and part time workers.

Initially we were based in Yellowhouse Lane but moved to our current location in 2007.

The paid team is supported by a dedicated team of 24 volunteers – 6 providing administration support and 18 volunteer advocates.
